What is it that everyone thinks about when they hear the word Australia?
KANGAROOS
(of course)
well, you can imagine my excitement when our neighbor Brian asked if we would like to trek into the woods to find the local mob (the term for a group of kangas) of these famous australian icons. we jumped into his UTE (pronounced y-oo-t, short for utility vehicle, known to americans as a pickup truck, which by the way was invented here) and headed for the nearby hills. sunlight streamed across the purple flower dotted grass and we soon spotted our mob. 60 or more kangaroos, some with joeys in their pouches, had no problem with our presence only a few steps away. then, Brian took me for a romp through the woods, my own personal nature guide, pointing out trees and flowers and birds and sharing a wealth of information in his teacher-like friendliness. i have to say it was hard to put my camera down, but once i realized it was keeping me from really taking in the beauty that was right in front of me, it wasn't hard to press the off button and fully look at what i was seeing.
My dear! I feel like you are breathing deep! Thank you for blogging and sharing, I know that a part of me is there too! I love you!
